Eating My Way Through Mother's Day!

Today is Mother's Day (for a little while longer, anyway), and I had the most wonderful day, thanks to my checkered boys (both big and little)! We went to breakfast, where I shared a Belgian waffle with strawberries and cream with my checkered niece Caroline. Well, she ate the strawberries and cream, I ate the waffle. Then, the checkered husband and my checkered boys took me to The Yankee Candle Shop in Massachusetts, where we spent the better part of the day. We had a snack, which consisted of home made fudge, cheddar cheese popcorn, gourmet gummy bears, recee's pieces, ice cream, potato chips and a soft pretzel with cheese for the checkered daddy. We got lots of wonderful smelling candles and other treasures, dipped candles, and walked around in a yummy-smelling-candle-induced stupor for 4 hours. We then headed to the Christmas Tree Shop at the Mall at Ingleside. I love going there - I just love a bargain! We got a few more yummy treats (well, mostly for the checkered boys) like cheese balls, movie theater candy, and some wonderful non-edible things!

We then went to the Cracker Barrel for dinner. I had a piece of sugar cured ham with sweet baby carrots and fried okra, daddy had a fried shrimp po' boy, checkered Jonathan had cheese toast (that's grilled cheese to you and me) and fries and checkered Alex had his signature chicken fingers and fries with half a gallon of ketchup. I also splurged on dessert and got the blackberry cobbler and vanilla ice cream. It was sinful! On the way out, we stopped in the gift shop and I got 10 Old Fashioned Candy Sticks in an array of yummy flavors and pretty colors! I had a butterscotch one on the way home.

We just got home and I am exhausted, but I had the most wonderful day! I could not have asked for a better Mother's Day! Thank you to my three wonderful checkered boys, for making it so special for me!

Oh, and PS, I got a 90-minute massage, the Nook case I've been looking everywhere for and a new purse from the checkered husband. And a Giants T-shirt, a box of candies, a watch and purse holder set and a hummingbird feeder from the checkered boys! I am so spoiled!
